Just as he is about to reach Marty on the pond, Marty leaps into the water, throwing Griff off-balance, and causes the youth and his gang to go tumbling through the glass windows of the courthouse mall!

Marty, checking the original newspaper, notices that the headline and the pictures are changing. But when Doc finds the sports almanac, and learns of Marty's plans to make some extra money by gambling on sure things, he is furious: "I didn't invent the time machine for financial gain. It's a scientific endeavour, for the good of mankind."
